Obituary For Penny Grace Roder
In Loving Memory of Penny
April 28, 2016 – July 18, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved golden retriever, Penny, on July 18, 2026, at the age of 10.
Penny wasn’t just a family dog—she was Matt’s dog, his constant companion, his shadow, and, as we often joked, his “girlfriend.” If Matt was home, Penny wasn’t far behind. She always found comfort in having a piece of his clothing nearby, whether it was a sweatshirt, a pair of socks, or anything that smelled like him. Being close to him was where she was happiest.
Penny lived life with endless joy. She loved chasing a tennis ball, making her nightly rounds to check on the chickens, and greeting every family member with an enthusiastic wagging tail and the biggest golden retriever smile. Her happiness was contagious, and she had a way of making every day brighter simply by being herself.
She was never a picky eater—if it was edible (or even remotely resembled food), Penny was willing to give it a try. Her enthusiasm for life extended to every meal, every adventure, and every moment spent with the people she loved.
Perhaps no relationship meant more to Penny than the bond she shared with her sister, Willow. The two were inseparable companions, and when Willow passed away in September 2025, Penny’s heart seemed to break as well. She missed Willow deeply, and although she continued to shower our family with love, it was clear she longed to be reunited with her best friend. In the months that followed, Penny gradually declined, and we take comfort in believing the two sisters are together once again.
Penny loved us with complete and unconditional devotion. She never failed to welcome us home with a wagging tail, bright eyes, and a smile that could melt away the hardest day. Her loyalty, gentle spirit, and joyful heart left paw prints on our lives that can never be erased.
Though our home feels quieter without her, Penny’s memory will live on in every tennis ball found in the yard, every evening spent checking on the chickens, and every smile she inspired. We will forever remember her happiness, her unwavering love, and the joy she brought into our family.
Run free, sweet Penny. Give Willow a nuzzle for us, chase all the tennis balls your heart desires, and know that you will always be loved, always missed, and never forgotten.
A special thank you to Town & Country vet for taking the time to come out to our house and comforting Penny in her time of need. In addition, thank you to Resting Pawz for continuing to love Penny and take such amazing care of her.
