Obituary For Tikka Marie Hults

On Halloween Day in 2012, our lives changed forever when we adopted Tikka from the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. From the moment she joined our home, she became a true military pup—ever loyal, endlessly adaptable, and a deeply cherished member of our family for nearly fourteen years.

Tikka’s journey took her across the West, embracing every new territory with enthusiasm. In Cheyenne, Wyoming, she claimed 40 wide-open acres as her personal kingdom, spending hours happily roaming the land and pursuing her ultimate target: wild antelope. In 2013, duty called the family to Colorado Springs. Though the acreage shrank and the antelope disappeared, Tikka quickly pivoted her duties to keeping the local rabbit population on their toes. By 2018, she made her final move to Piedmont, South Dakota, where she joyfully took up the relentless pursuit of ground squirrels.

Beyond her wild chases, Tikka was a adventure-seeker at heart. She loved riding on four-wheelers, jumping into the car for any road trip, camping under the stars, and playing fetch until her humans' arms grew tired. Yet, for all her energy outdoors, she was an absolute cuddle bug inside. On cold days, Tikka’s favorite place in the world was curled up tightly under the blankets, snoring softly right next to the people she loved.

When our infant daughter joined the family, Tikka stepped into her role with pure gentleness and patient love. She had a sweet, soulful nature that made it feel as though she was always quietly thanking us for rescuing her that autumn day in Cheyenne. Truthfully, we were the lucky ones. Tikka filled our lives with boundless laughter, unshakeable comfort, and unconditional love.

Adored by so many, Tikka leaves behind a legacy of joyful chases, warm snuggles, and heavy hearts. She was deeply loved, and she will be missed beyond measure.

The attached photo was last year at my house in MO 2025 July, I bought her a vest for the fireworks and it appeared she felt safe with it on. Always such a wonderful pup that could go anywhere without any issues. A great companion and I will miss her on future visits looking into her soul through those eyes that could speak. Rest my fur baby!
